Please help my friends

Some of my friends are very sick. I wish I could take them all to K9 Town so the female Elders could make them better but Ma and her friends at FetchaCure won't let me. They think the veterinarians would be able to take care of them better. Me and my pack have a plan but we can only take so many at a time. We need your help with the ones we can't get to in time.

Coming this Friday, June 7th, FetchaCure's 6th Annual Pets on Parade Benefit and Auction. This is Knox, pictured here. He has cancer. They gave him operations and he's doing much better now. I heard Ma say the word "remission."

Take a moment and learn about the programs funded by donations and fundraisers throughout the year. Follow this link to find out about the things being done for my friends. It's not all about money. They always need volunteers too.  http://fetchacure.com/get-involved/events/6th-annual-pets-on-parade-benefit-auction/

Thank you.

Omar Blue - The Morning After

Here's my Omar the morning after the New Publisher Party. His friends are back home and K9 Town is quiet again for a while. I'm sure they all have a bunch of good memories to dream about. "We had a ball Ma." was all I could get out of him so far, on his way to his favorite doggie couch.

Omar Blue And the New Publisher Party

Last night Omar had the party to celebrate our new Publishers, Sweatshoppe Publications, for Led By An Eagle.

The day started with Omar pacing in and out of the house, up and down in the yard. I was glad when Dr. Watson from next door came over to keep him company. Then Guinness Goheen, Lucy Grim and boxers Bell and Buster Sanders arrived.

All came in except Guinness and Lucy. So used to the routine, they were going to wait for Sophie and Major Diggs outside and go straight to K9 Town where they knew the female Elders were waiting for them and the fun was already starting.

Spartacus Maximus and his new little sister, Athena came next. Spartacus wouldn't bring her in because she said she had to tinkle. I think she just wanted to stay out with some of the others who were arriving.

Major Diggs and Schoolmarm Sophie Jean came and brought some of the K9 Town dobie puppies for Athena to play with and before long she was playing with her new friends like she was a part of the family, which she now was. They told her all about the other puppies she'd soon meet. Spartacus came inside, knowing Athena was in good hands with the ever alert Sophie and Diggs. What a good big brother he is.

Everything was going just fine, I thought, until Omar told me he had a surprise for me after I heard a noise in the den. I went in with him following me.

What a surprise it was! Some of Omar's canine kin, including his Ma and Pa, Sai Fon and Nitro were here. I couldn't believe my eyes. I hadn't seen them since I had acquired Omar Blue at eight weeks old. They didn't like the camera so I respected their wishes and didn't take any front shots but I had to have something or you'd never believe me.

I grabbed a seat and listened while they told about Iron Dog Land, their home and how much fun they had when Omar and his pack came to visit.

Omar's brother Thor did most of the talking. Sai Fon and Nitro were busy casting loving glances at Omar. They were so cute.

I hadn't really thought about it, at least not much, but when Thor said Omar's granny Minni Mor was at K9 Town with the two Seers, Rasta Mama and Great Dane Granny, and they were fixing a surprise for the celebration, that was it, I was going to the party!

In the meantime the three welcome visitors kept us mesmerized. By "us" I mean me and all of Omar's guests and by that time there was a considerable number. Here's an example, Bell and Buster and Dr. Watson.

It was soon time for Omar and company to leave for the party. I had my strategy planned out by then. I watched as they went down the road and as usual, all of a sudden I could no longer see them. Major Diggs and Sophie had long ago taken the puppies back to K9 Town. Not taking any chances with their safety.

I wished Dr. Watson had gone with the puppies but that would have been an insult. I did notice as they were walking that I could barely see him but only because he was up front with Omar, Sai Fon and Nitro. Those dogs take care of their own.

I wasn't able to get to the party until very late. My mojo just wasn't working. I think Omar had something to do with that, but...... I couldn't have arrived at a better time.

I had just gotten comfortable in some bushes where I could see everything when across the sky came an image that I'll remember the rest of my days. I got it for you. Look at this!

After seeing this wonder at night, under the stars, I didn't need to stay any longer. I was out of my league but loving it. I couldn't wait to get home and share what I'd seen. OMG!

I didn't tell Omar I had been at the party, of course. Though I don't think he would have been surprised. What Minni Mor, Rasta Mama and Great Dane Granny had prepared was better than the Coney Island fireworks of my childhood and that's saying a lot.

I know you may have a hard time believing my true tales but as I always say, "pictures don't lie." Or, do they.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A special thanks to friends and family for some of the wonderful pictures. I hope you'll visit that cute gentlemen doggie Spartacus Maximus on Facebook. He's quite the celebrity. I'm sure little Athena will be shortly too. Thank you Linda.

I can't say enough about the artist, Abby Tatreau for letting me use her artwork to complete my true tale. Thanks Abby.

Here we go again!

Omar's napping. He's probably dreaming about the celebration he and his pack are giving at K9 Town next week to announce our new publisher for "Led By An Eagle," Sweatshoppe Publications.

He'll be running Facebook pages all day tomorrow inviting some of his canine friends. I just don't understand why he tells them all to stop here first. He just has to keep me involved!

I don't let on that it's really okay. Otherwise, how could I keep you all involved. LOL. Stay tuned.....

Omar Blue and Pack Make Headlines

While sitting one night not long ago, trying to think of something different to write about, Omar Blue came in from a visit to K9 Town.

He had a newspaper in his mouth and a serious expression. I asked where it came from but instead of answering, he asked, in that way we have of  communicating, "Would you read this to me please Ma?"

Why, I don't know, but I panicked wondering what he and his pack had gotten themselves into.

He pointed to the article but I was busy trying to see the name of the newspaper and where it originated. No name, nor place was given.

Omar set down in front of me, waiting for me to begin, so I did. As I read a far away look came into his eyes, as though he were in a trance, reliving the moments.

ABUSE ON THE WATERFRONT
by Sagamore Duley
Doberman Omar Blue and his canine followers yesterday invaded the waterfront compound of Captain Fenimus Rong after a canine tip about animal cruelty.

The tip leading to the rescue was intended to trap and put an end to Omar Blue and his band of caring canines. Fortunately, Captain Rong was outwitted and his assemblage of battered animals were rescued.  Before leaving, the ex-captives left their mark to make sure it would be a long time if ever, before Fenimus Rong was able to repeat his wicked activities.
To his credit Captain Rong’s dog, the messenger, knew of Omar Blue and his pack. The Cocker Spaniel had been waiting for a chance to join them in their quest to help the unfortunate and to put a stop to Captain Rong.

The brave Cocker’s good deed earned him a place in the pack forever, along with those rescued.
Led by leader Omar Blue the mistreated animals and their new friends were off to K9 Town, USA, their new home. There they will give and receive love, respect and kindness and become proud members of the ever growing family of canines."
* * * * *
When I finished reading the front page article, "I" was in a trance, I didn't faint this time but I admit I felt a bit woozy.  OMG! I was so proud. Omar snapped out of it as soon as I finished reading. He was very excited. I knew he'd remember every word.

After a wet "I love you" lick to my face, he was off like lightening to repeat the words to those who had joined him in this daring deed.

Still in awe, I decided I'd share this with you all. After all I was looking for something different to write about. Omar still hasn't told me where this waterfront town is and I'm guessing he never will.

When he returned he told me how happy the rescued newcomers were to hear the story and how happy they were to be at K9 Town, USA where they could feel the love and friendship and enjoy their new lives.

COMING SOON: The canine celebration (yes, he talked me into another party)
announcing Sweatshoppe Publications as the new publishers of O. Warfield's second novelette in verse, "Led By An Eagle."

Omar Blue and the Dashing Spartacus Maximus

Omar’s granny, Minni Mor has gone back to Iron Dog Land. I wish she could have spent more time with us but Omar says she did what she came to do.

The K9 Town Seers, Komondor Rasta Mama and Great Dane Granny have enough new potions and other things to keep them busy for awhile. The Pack has scheduled watches over those two and is enjoying every minute of it. Omar says they can be pretty entertaining, as we learned in Led By An Eagle.

Omar has a new friend. His name is Spartacus Maximus. A beautiful fawn and rust Doberman and if a dog could ever be called a gentleman it would be him.
I knew I was about to become involved in something when Omar started wondering, out loud, how Spartacus could get to K9 Town.

I was making up my mind not to help with anything, when there was a faint scratch at the door. Here we go again! Omar wouldn’t look my way. I opened the door. It was Spartacus Maximus.

“Hello, I’m Omar Blue’s friend Spartacus, may I see Omar please” he said, and I understood every word.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was so cute in his dandy outfit. Omar said he got dressed up just to meet me. My curiosity was growing by the minute. I had decided no need to fight it. Who could resist the little slicksters.
They told me that Spartacus works on a fire truck. He loves his job saving puppies, but needs to get away for a while.
“I’ve told him about K9 Town and the things we do. He needs to go there. He needs to be with us Ma,” said Omar. “My pack is waiting for him. The puppies want to hear stories about saving puppies.”
Okay, I was in. The three of us sat and formulated a plan so Spartacus could spend a day with Omar without his people mommy and daddy, Linda and Frankie getting suspicious. I must say, getting these plans together is getting easier. But this is the last time….again.

When Spartacus Maximus’ mommy dropped him off, he was very excited about going to K9 Town. He didn’t dress up this time, except for the flowers he brought me. Such a little gentlemen!
Soon off they went, moving so fast that my eyes could hardly follow them, and then they were gone.
I wasn’t worried. I knew Omar and his K9 Town family would treat Spartacus like he’d been with them forever. He’d have a wonderful time. He’d hang out with the males, get spoiled by the females and be entertained by the puppies.
Omar said that’s exactly what happened. They all had a ball. Then, before leaving, Spartacus told them about his girlfriend. “Her name is Terra. I love her,” he said.

Omar and the other males could see the light bulbs go off in the female Elders’ heads. They wanted Terra with them. Oh no! They were thinking celebration. He signaled Spartacus and they laughingly made a mad dash for home. They were still happy and excited when they arrived.
It’s been days. I don’t like to think about the danger Spartacus faces doing his job. He doesn’t know it but Omar keeps a close eye on him and so do the others. If he ever needs them, they will be there for him.
I have a feeling Spartacus knows that, and it makes his job a little easier. He'll visit K9 Town, USA often, knowing he has a home and family there too.
--------------------------------------
Many thanks to Frankie and Linda Olthoff for letting their shining star Spartacus Maximus participate in our true tale.  I’m sure they won’t mind me inviting you over to Spartacus Maximus’ Facebook page. When you get there, you’ll see why everybody loves Spartacus. Omar knows how to pick his friends.

Omar's Granny - Minnie Mor

Ever since Omar came back from his trip, with his pack to meet his kin (Led By An Eagle) I've been listening to the adventures. I've told him more than once how I'd love to see his canine Ma and Pa again. After all, when I took him into my care as a wee puppy, we agreed the day would come that we would meet again. I'm beginning to think it will indeed be soon.  Here's why.....

While sitting, as usual, thinking of all the things I should, but would not be doing, I noticed Omar Blue looking out the window as if waiting for something to happen. Thinking to myself how well I knew that look, I took a chance and asked, "Okay Omar, spill it, what's going on?"

"Well Ma," he communicated, "We're about to have a little company."

"No Omar, no parties. I'm just getting over your Christmas party!" But before I got it  out he was gone.

I heard noise in the yard so I went to the window where Omar's little friend, Dr. Watson was making a fuss to get over here.

I went and got him, not wanting to bring any unwanted attention right then. He's a constant visitor anyway. When we got back in the house, Omar was back and he wasn't alone!

Omar's granny, Minnie Mor, from Iron Dog Land was with him. I couldn't believe my eyes. I knew you wouldn't believe me so I have a picture for you. Minnie Mor also has certain powers Omar says, though he won't go into exactly what kind.

I couldn't keep my eyes off of her, she was so beautiful. I understood her to say she wanted to meet me. She had just left K9 Town where she planned to share some knowledge and potions with the K9 Town Seers, Komondor Rasta Mama and Great Dane Granny. Omar later laughingly told me, the last things the pack needed was for those three to get together again.

Minni Mor was telling me about Iron Dog Land and Omar's kin when there was a scratch at the door. I wasn't moving. Omar went.

I knew it! It was Major Diggs. I hadn't realized how much time had gone by. The female Elders had sent him to get Omar and his granny. They wanted them both with them. I couldn't blame them. They wanted to relive their wonderful adventure. Minni Mor would mesmerize them, like she had done me.

As I watched the three of them leave, I could see shadows of other members of the pack. I knew Major Diggs would not have been alone.  That's not the way of Omar and his pack. They would make sure no harm came to their precious visitor and have a safe journey back to K9 Town, USA.

Dr. Watson wanted to go with them, but not this time. I kept him with me. After seeing the little marrow bone I had for him, he quickly decided he didn't mind keeping me company for a while.

K9 Town, USA - Where Dogs Can Be Dogs

I just missed Omar Blue. Headed for K9 Town I'm sure. He may have mentioned it below. He's having so much fun and K9 Town is a wonderful place. Omar says K9 Town, USA is a place where dogs can be dogs. I ask him if he's not being a dog here at home, what is he? We both had to laugh at that one.

Just having fun...

Hi everybody. I'm having so much fun since Ma gave me my own Facebook  page for Christmas. I'm making lots of new friends to take to K9 Town to meet my pack. Our next party is really going to be a "big" one (wink! wink!) I've been to Facebook U.K., Facebook Spain, Facebook Germany and some other places too. I'll bring some more friends over to meet you.

Ma has some stuff to tell you so please come back later to see us. Gotta go now before she catches up with me. She says I need to stop and rest. Treats me like a little puppy sometime. I love my Maaaaaa.... Bye for now. Off to K9 Town.

Fun at the Festival? Yes indeed!

Daughter Joy and I had a ball at the "St. Patrick's Day Shamrock The Block Festival." Not only because it was a fun day but because we were helping to raise funds for our furry friends again. We were lending a hand to a non profit organization very dear to us. FETCH A CURE. We were on beer truck duty, ha, ha. A percentage of every beer we sold will go towards the important programs sponsored by FETCH.

Programs such as financial aid to families unable to bear the cost of the life-saving treatments for their pets that have been diagnosed with cancer through the Companions in Crisis program. FETCH continues to work towards providing more accessible treatment options for all within our community.

Through the Pixie’s Pen Pals program, FETCH is helping rescue dogs and inmates in Virginia correctional centers have a second chance. By working cooperatively and bonding with the animals, the inmates learn responsibility, patience, tolerance and life-long skills and the trained dogs find life-long homes.

Find out more about this wonderful organization by visiting http://fetchacure.com/about-us/our-mission/. It's almost time for our biggest fundraising event of the year, "6th Annual Pets On Parade Benefit and Auction." Volunteers are always needed and always appreciated.

Here we are taking a short break to say hello to you all. Gotta get back to work. Look what's headed our way.

OMAR BLUE AND THE BABY COMMANDOS

I know she's looking.
I can always tell when Omar Blue is up to something. He’ll pretend to be busy but tries to keep my attention. “Okay Omar, what is it?” I asked. He said, in that way we have of communicating, “Would you like to come with me to the playground, Ma?” not “Would you take me to the playground, Ma?” but I knew that was of no significance. Something was up.

“Why would I want to go to the playground right now Omar?” I asked. “Because you won’t believe what’s about to happen,” he said.

Omar then told me about a group of super intelligent babies that have agreed to help him and his pack search out mistreatment of animals. They are always in the parks or traveling places with their mommies and daddys and get to see a lot. They are called the Baby Commandos.

When we got to the playground it was pretty empty. Then he rode up. The Baby leader, Lil’ Commander Seth Cheatham. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had to take this picture. I started over but Omar stopped me, saying we can’t be seen, because parents are always watching.
I see my contacts now. Over and out.
I should have known even this wasn’t enough! Two K9 Town puppies came on the scene. Playing it cool. One looking out, one looking down. Omar called them the Sparrow pups. They would get the new information. Rottie Brady, the K9 Town professor and schoolmarm Poodle Sophie had taught them well.

He sees us. Let's go!
They ran over to the baby Commander, all three pretended to play for awhile, then off they went running. Omar said Rhodesian Ridgebacks Koffe and Tee were waiting to take them back to K9 Town, where they would wait for him.

We couldn’t get home fast enough. I wanted to go to K9 Town too, but no matter how hard I thought about it, nothing happened this time. I think Omar had something to do with that. I now knew as much as he wanted me to about the Baby Commandos.

He couldn’t say, “Bye Ma” fast enough when we got home. He was off like a shot.

Omar Blue, Facebook and the Caped Crusaders

It’s no secret that Omar Blue has been doing a lot of traveling since he got his own Facebook page for Christmas. I can hardly keep up with him. He’s made many friends in different countries.

After the celebration and meeting with the Show Dogs he became very thoughtful. I knew something was coming but was in no rush to find out what it was. I’m sure you understand, from my past experiences with Omar and his pack. But sure enough, it came!
Omar told me, in that way we have of communicating, that he had met other dogs in other countries that protect and care for abused and lonely canines just like him and his K9 Town pack. Of course I thought he was kidding.  Then he said he had started going over to other Doberman sites talking and making friends when the secrets began flowing.
I told Omar this was impossible and I didn’t believe that there were others like them.
What did I say that for!  “Ma, can I prove it to you?” he asked. I knew I was in trouble then. I had fallen into his trap and as usual my curiosity was getting the best of me. “How can you prove it Mr. Omar Blue,” I asked.
Just then there were two low barks at the door as if they had been waiting for my exact words. We both went to the door and I opened it. Omar smiled and said hello. I fainted!
I’m embarrassed, so I won’t talk about that but when I woke up and looked around, I saw that it was true.

Batman and Robin dogs, and all the way from Spain. I still couldn’t believe my eyes. Omar said he was taking them to K9 Town where they were going to compare different ways of saving and protecting animals being abused, and places like K9 Town where they can live happily ever after.
There was another bark. I went to the window this time. It was Freedom, Omar’s beautiful German Shepherd pal. Freedom normally works alone although he’s a member of K9 Town, USA. He wanted to meet Batman and Robin so of course, what better meeting place. I waved him in. I like Freedom.

I had to put out of my mind the time I followed him and Omar when they saved some little puppies outside of K9 Town. What you see now is my memory of that night. The tree monsters helped. They saw the puppies being taken and told Omar and Freedom.

They told me I wasn’t safe. I was afraid. I ran home fast. See me running home fast?

What a night that was. Omar still doesn’t know I followed him. Or does he?
Omar, Freedom, Batman and Robin sat around for a little while. I loved it! I fed them and off they went to meet the pack. Omar won’t tell me their true identities. Only that they belong to two of our new Facebook friends. Maybe it’s better that way.
I wonder if their people parents know.
Everything is back to “normal.” Omar is back. He’s supposed to be resting but I hear him.  Can hardly keep his eyes open.

Maaaaaaaa. If I find the car keys can we take a ride to Spain to see my friends?

No Omar.  It’s not that easy and you need some rest.

And……..No Facebook Tonight!!

A big thank-you to Ms. Sara Magdalena Arduino for letting us bring Batman and Robin dogs to the U.S. Omar says they traded some very valuable information.

Omar Blue And The Show Dogs Celebration

I just don’t know what I’m going to do with my Omar Blue and his pack. They’re always up to something.  We all know the big Dog Show was in town last week.

Last year there was a celebration at K9 Town for them. Now, on the day of the show Omar told me they were having another celebration and meeting with the Show Dogs. He said the Show Dogs were excited and had a plan to get away. Show dog Casper the Kuvasz is getting mighty good at this. Him and his sister Leonberger Scarlett are the link and are very careful when getting the word out.

Here’s Casper, back at home watching the show, waiting for his cue. Omar says when this beautiful Setter lifts its tail to a certain height that means all is well and they will all be at the meeting place.

Even Scarlett is helping this time though she’d rather be at K9 Town with her adopted Leonberger family.  She’s not very patient. Casper had better hurry or she’d disappear on him.

In addition to the Show Dogs, remember Theo that big handsome Great Dane. “I” had to do some fast talking because Tammy, his people Ma was leaving for a few days and had already packed him into the vehicle. Was he glad to see us. We took Theo and she took one of my Don’t Worry About A Thing Rum Cakes. One of the two Seers, Great Dane Granny, treats him like her other grands and he loves it. Omar took him straight to K9 Town.

When he got there he mentioned that his little friend Guinness hadn’t been feeling well lately but she wanted to come to the celebration.  When the female Elders heard that, there was no containing them.  They would go get her right then. Omar says they are better doctors than we have here anyway but he had to talk them into waiting until she got to K9 Town. He agreed that one of them could go with him.

The females decided to send Callie, because her and Guinness had become best friends at the Christmas Party and Guinness would love seeing her.

Here’s Guinness. People parents Pam and Mike were out shopping. They wouldn’t leave her for long. She was hoping her K9 Town friends were on their way.

Sure enough! She heard leader Omar telling her friend Callie to take the stairs and he’d wait outside. She was feeling better already.

Cute little Callie was on a mission. Had to get her friend back to the  females so they could fix her up. It won’t be a problem, they can fix anything. If its something they can’t fix the Seers will whip up a potion and Guinness will be as good as new.

If all of this wasn’t enough, Omar decided he wanted Toby, our new neighbor, Janet William’s 12 week old puppy to go too.  He said it would do him good to be with the K9 Town puppies and they were waiting for him.

If it had anything to do with the puppies, schoolmarm poodle Sophie Jean was going to handle it. Her brother, the protective Major Diggs came with her. They wouldn’t come in.

I was puppy sitting little Toby and could tell he knew they were coming. He pretended to play but never moved away from the door.  When I took him out to them I thought he said, “Bye, bye.”

Omar says everything went as scheduled with the Show Dogs. They were so happy to be where they could just be themselves. No combing, no fussing over them, no expectations. Just dogs doing what dogs do.

There was a meeting but Omar kept it short. The Show Dogs told their K9 Town friends of things they had witnessed in their travels. Things they were to report back to the pack, as they were doing. By the time Omar told me all this, the serious abuse and mistreatment they spoke of had been handled. I didn’t dare ask Omar what they had done because I had seen them in action and hoped never to see that again. I did notice he mentioned some names I hadn’t heard before as members of his pack.

I hear they really wooped it up that night, as they always do when the Show Dogs visit K9 Town. Omar Blue says it was like magic. I thought to myself, yes, I guess it was, just like magic.

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO....

And why would you want to go there, you ask?

Because Omar and I are very excited about our write up in the Meet The Authors-Book Reviews by author/magazine editor Susan Keefe.

There are reviews and comments included about our Omar Blue saga, by adults and children.  Omar especially likes this comment by Peter, an 8 year old little boy.

"Omar Blue is a big dog and I would like to meet him. It would be lots of fun to be with all these dogs and play with them all because I like dogs very much. I think Omar Blue would take care of me and be my best friend."

When I read this to Omar he said (in that way I somehow understand) how he'd love to meet little Peter and take him to meet his K9 Town pack.  There was a familiar glint in his eyes.  Then I realized what he was thinking. Noooo Omar. You can't take little Peter to K9 Town!!!

After I fully, fully explained why, he understood.
