Christmas at K-9 Town - The Puppies Declaration

Before you get started. I'll let you know that Ma O is also tellin' our Christmas story over at our YouTube channel. You can just sit back and let her entertain you.

It was the night before Christmas, and all was well. Christmas is always an exciting time at K-9 Town.

I was with Santa Claus.

After posing for merry passers-by, we would be off to deliver toys and goodies to all the children… then last stop… K-9 Town.

Here at home, however, after a meeting amongst themselves, our little grumbling puppies were yapping their grievances to any female adults showing the least bit of interest, since they think us males tended to overlook their bad moods with playful clowning.

"We wanna stay up until Santa gets here,” the pups woofed defiantly. We’ve been tricked, or somethin’, into falling asleep before he gets here… every time! We wanna see Santa Claus and play with him, so we’re gonna do it different this time.

With questioning gazes, the females pondered the puppies’ passionate yelping as they continued.

“Here’s what we wanna do… After we eat and play all day, we’re gonna stay up all night until he gets here. We need to skip our naps too, okay... or it won't work. If we don’t stop playing, we won’t get tired and fall asleep!”

Casting amused glances at each other, then feigning empathy, the females nodded in agreement at their tiny off-springs.

“That sounds like to good plan,” said Tata, one of the Leonberger family. “So we’re not gonna interfere… No tricks to make you all fall asleep. We Promise.”

“Umm. This sounds familiar,” Poodle Sophie ruffed. “Haven’t we heard this plan before?”

"Uh uh,” yapped one of the chihuahua triplets, leaning forward with narrowed eyes, imitating an expression used by us adults sometimes. “It’s different! We made a mistake before and took our naps. That’s why it didn’t work. We should’ve kept eatin’ and playin’… nobody told us, but this time we know for ourselves.”

“Ohhh! What a good plan! That will surely work!” woofed more than one dumbfounded female as they turned and strode away, no longer able to suppress the giggles and laugher causing their bodies to quiver.

Meanwhile… Santa and me finally ended his deliveries and were on our way to K-9 Town.

When we got here, Santa was met by a flurry of us dogs waiting to greet our jolly friend in red and white.

Santa ho ho ho’d in delight as we helped empty his sleigh and tote the puppies’ new gifts.

Entering the puppies' den, we saw 'um, clustered together fast asleep, as expected, after a day of tummy filling treats and the normal energized stuff they do all day… each wearing a look of absolute contentment as their new bones, as big as them, were laid at their sides.

Then Lufa started his howling! That Bloodhound's melodious message was loud and clear. It was time to get the Christmas party started.

Lufa never fails to get Santa dancing and prancing in the moonlight, and he didn’t fail this Eve as Santa’s moves brought joy and gladness into the wee hours.

We had the best Christmas ever. But I gotta stop here. You know, what happens at K-9 Town, stays... and so on, and so on.

I will say this, from my entire Pack

Happy Holidays! Wishing everyone, a joyful, safe and healthy new year.
