A Merry Christmas at K-9 Town

Christmas was lots of fun. Starting when Poodle Sophie spread the word that the puppies were planning again, how they'd stay awake better than last time, cause they're bigger now. They'd be awake when Santa came.

Santa had his hands full so us dogs agreed that we'd see to the puppies treats and he would join us for the Christmas Party when he finished bringing joy to all the children.

Ma sent Babee to explain to Santa that nothing the puppies did since last year was really their faults. Just some misunderstandings, that's all.

While the Females kept the puppies' tummies full, Babee's energetic young friends kept them busy running and playing, with a little rough-housing thrown in, as the proud elder Males looked on. 

Babee arrived with the goodies from Santa. We found a secluded spot to wait for the others. 

When the puppies could no longer oppose their heavy eyelids, us dogs delivered their treats. Not a single eye opened, nor tiny body stirred.

Not long after our successful undertaking, Lufa the Bloodhound started his melodious howling to accompany Santa's arrival as only he could.

Santa's greeting was as exuberant as ever. "Let the Party begin," he bellowed... and it did.

Thanksgiving Day at K-9 Town - 2023

 

 

Ma wanted to supply Thanksgivin' turkeys for the pack. If it were up to her, the pack would be as spoiled as I used to be. Can't let that happen... Can't let some already caught turkeys upset the balance at K-9 Town. 

We're self-sufficient. Would mean our downfall if we weren't. Easy eatin' wouldn't be a good thing here. 

Ma understood but couldn't help offering. It's just her way.

 

Babee spent Thanksgiving at K-9 Town. He had a good time with his young friends. He's a part of the family here. The pack loves him like their own, and that's sayin' a lot.

 

He's such a little rascal. He'd be looking for fixed turkey leftovers when he got back home to Ma. Can't say I blame him. 

 

Ma and me came to an agreement. I'll let her tell you about it...

 

Ma: Glad to, Omar. Hope everyone had as good a day as we did.
 
Omar and me came to an understanding regarding how our pack celebrates Thanksgiving. Though I love the fact that they celebrate holidays and usually drag me into them, Thanksgiving is different...

An idea came to me

Turkeys for our K-9 Pack

They celebrate too you see.

I offered him some turkeys

Then saw him smack his lips

But instead of accepting the turkeys

He offered me some tips.

Said, Ma you always mean well

And turkey sure taste good

But it ain’t the way we do things

Though it’s nice to know we could.

 Never knowin' what their missin'

Throughout the day they're running back

Seeking nothing more than kissin'.

I had to admit it sounded great

Halloween Madness

As the moon shimmered its tranquil glow, K-9 Town inhabitants enjoyed nature at its purest. Ghouls, goblins and ghostly creatures had long since departed, after giving the puppies a night to remember... 

We noticed Zilly Boo hadn't arrived with her new beau but thought nothing of it. Never know what to expect from her.

I contacted Babee to make sure all was well... Nope!

Here's what Babee told me.

After a few drinks, Zilly and A-Boo went out front, to surprise any humans that might pass by.

When night fell, the lovebirds decided instead of coming to K-9 Town, they would take in a scary movie while Ma and Babee gave out trick or treats. 

It so happens, one of A-Boo's old flames was in the movie and Zilly got mad 'cause A-Boo picked out the movie. She kicked him out of the house. 

Now she's upset and refusing to leave.

Ma had a long talk with her but is letting Babee handle it. He's giving Zilly 'til night-time, then he's not putting up with any more of her shenanigans.

UPDATE - JUST IN: A-Boo came back for Zilly Boo. They made up, bid Ma and Babee good-bye with "See you next year" ghost screams, and off they went.

Zilly Boo's back - Halloween love

Remember my friend Zilly Boo. She's at Ma's. Babee says Zilly brought along her new beau for Ma's approval before they head for Halloween at K-9 Town. His name is A-Boo. Seems like a nice Skel, Babee says.

Sounds like she's settling down. Babee doesn't think so. I told him awhile back, how when I was still livin' with Ma, Zilly Boo had a bad drinkin' problem. Every Halloween we put up with her bad behavior until I had enough. I had a long fuss at her.

The females are already asking when Zilly's coming. They know about her new beau and can't wait to see him and get all the particulars. You know how females are. 

Babee's keeping an eye on the happy-go-lucky couple. I told him not to worry about the drinkin'. The females will handle that when she gets here. He's okay with that.

Before my Higher Calling

I don't talk much about it, but before what Ma calls my "Higher Calling" to K-9 Town, I was a real do-gooder.

They called me "Attorney with Paws." 

I did some travelling. Had to. Some of my friends were victims of unwarranted accusations... for the most part. I had to get them to stop confessin'. 

Anyway, the time came for me to turn the reins over to my baby brother, Babee Blue. He took to it easily. 

Halloween has always been a problem. Ghost and goblins running amuck then disappearing. Us getting the blame for their messes.

Not this Halloween! Babee found their lair and he's holding them in there. I offered our help, but he says it's under control. Especially after he warned them that K-9 Town is backin' him.

Ma O's tellin' it better

Turns out Ma's alter ego, Ma O, ain't satisfied with how we told about Lufa's howling. She's saying we didn't do him justice. Didn't even tell the whole story, so she's gonna do it right.

We're on our way to our YouTube channel, where she's doing it. That's always fun. We'll be behaving... Don't want Ma gettin' after us...

What happened to Babee Blue

When the pack learned of Babee's nail removal foot surgery, Omar contacted Ma, asking her to send Babee to K-9 Town to make sure he was not in need of the Female's care. After all, there are none better at healing the pack's ailments.

Knowing how worried they were, Ma relented, but not before making sure Omar understood that Babee was not to seek fun loving diversions with his young buddies.

Babee arrived standing tall and happy to see his K-9 Town family.

After the females' inspection, pack members came in small groups to confirm that their leader's baby brother, who they accepted and cared for as a member of the pack, was well. 

Babee was disappointed that he wasn't allowed to run off with his friends, but he knew those orders came from Ma, and Omar would not go against her wishes. He settled in happily, and accepted the ongoing attention.

When Lufa Howls

Sun's going down, puppies are settled. We're gathering, 'cause Lufa is in the mood. 

That crooning Bloodhound is about to bring peace to the wilderness for a while. 

There's Dirty Sam the Grizzly. Always sneaking around. We don't trust him one bit. Can't do nothin' but growl and roar, but that don't stop him.

I told him, Lufa don't need no back-up.

Major Diggs and me are goin' over Dirty Sam's way to tell him not to start joining in with Lufa again... 

Always spoilin' stuff!

Poodle Sophie's Recollection

 

Me and Major Diggs peeped in on Sophie and the puppies. She was telling 'em about when we first started K-9 Town. We don't often get those tykes to quiet down like that, but Sophie knows her stuff.

Ma's alter ego, Ma O, is over at our YouTube channel, "Adventures at K-9 Town," tellin' it like Sophie did. We're gathering the pack and goin' over there. We swore to behave. Don't want her gettin' after us.

Babee's New Friend

Babee came for a visit. After we made the usual fuss over him, he and his friends scampered off. That's okay. Truth be told, they're never out of our sights.

They came back a while later with some young Tree Ogres. The saplings and our young, get along good. 

Babee introduced me to his new best friend, Symmatree. 

 

I'm proud of my baby brother, because he knows that best friends come in all shapes, sizes and colors... No message there... Just sayin'.

Mellow Memories - Did I ever tell you about the time

 

I can't say too much about Babee getting into a little trouble now and then. When I was at home with Ma, I did my share. Of course, she had a way of making me regret stuff I did, that I knew I shouldn't have. Babee's still learning that part.

Here's one that got me in plenty trouble. Couldn't get out of it. Nothing worked. She should've cared about what I went through before gettin' up the nerve, but she didn't. Bowed head, sad eyes, none of it! I had time to practice before she caught me, but that didn't help either. So there I was, again...

On lockdown, but it wasn't my fault

Ma left the meatloaf on the table

I didn't tell that phone to ring

But I was sure grateful, Aunt Mable.

Belly full, I wasn't thinking clearly. I've never been able to bow gracefully. I should have known better. And I couldn't make my eyes look sad after what I'd done. So off I went, into the "room of shame." (Disregard my comfortable chair, the toys, and the bones.)

After "the incident" I dreamed about meatloaf for a long time.

Still do. Yum, yum!

"Ma O" tells it better

We're on our way over to our YouTube channel. Ma's alter ego, Ma O, is tellin' everybody what happened at our ball playin' tryouts.

I gave my talk about misbehavin'. We'll see what happens. We're a pretty wild bunch. Ma says we're "Hams." Don't know what that means. Can't be too bad if she's callin' it.

Let the games begin!

 

I'm waiting on Babee. Ma says he's full of energy and needs to be around me and some of his young friends here at K-9 Town a while. We had a meeting and decided to let them referee the ballgames comin' up. 

The young referees have been practicing calls and can't wait to show Babee. He'll be leading them in no time. They've added some body language us elders wouldn't even attempt. 

This is gonna be a hoot!

Here comes Babee. Always good to see my baby brother.

Babee: There's Omar. He's looking good. Ma says I look like a mini Omar. I like that. This is gonna be big fun. Me and my friends are ready. After all, we refereed the puppy games last time... The grown-up players are gathering. They better listen to us... those are the rules. 

There're some outsiders looking on too. Nasty the Grizzly with one of his friends... They know better than to start trouble. 

Omar: Let The Tryouts Begin!! We have teams and singles.

Here's last years champs. They're the team to beat, looking better than ever. Look at 'em go.

These two have such good moves that the champs have already claimed them. Gonna take a good team to beat this bunch.

These are my friends all the way from Facebook's Rottweiler & Company (All Breed Group) page. They've been practicing for weeks and now they're showing their stuff. We'll be watching them closely. The jokesters have a way of planting look-a-like balls in the field... All in fun. Let's see how the refs handle them. Woof, woof.

This is JJ Pinscher. Look at that move. You can see why all the teams are watching him. They ain't seen nothing yet!

Wait a minute! What's going on... One of the puppy teams tried to slip through. Ahhhaha. It didn't work. The mad tykes are being led off the field. This is the team that got time-out for unnecessary roughness last season. Maybe they would do okay. Ahhhaha. Just kidding. Their games will start when it gets a little warmer.

There's Afghan Bee Bee, showing one of her remarkable moves. She's somethin' else. Real tough. 

See Bruno over there. He's waiting for his team. They're always late. Don't let the size fool you. Small and fast, with moves that spellbind the rest of us... 

"Over here, Bruno! We're ending tryouts for today. Find a spot and settle down. The celebration will start soon!"

Uh Oh! The Grizzlies heard me. They're coming this way. Can't trust them one bit. We ain't that friendly. Time to talk boundaries again...
