Female Timber Wolves Want Puppy Love Too

Omar Blue
I'm in the habit of taking a daily stroll. Gives me time to think about what's going on at K-9 Town and how happy we all are.

It's a shame there are always others here in the wilderness who want to change our way of life, but that doesn't worry us. We enjoy the challenges.

Our enemies are unable to guess our strength. We have secrets that they can't imagine.

I was just thinking about the vicious female timber wolves. They were very confused for awhile. Spying on the K-9 Town females and the puppies will get you that way.

This was their dilemma.

The K-9 Town puppies decided they would teach the potbellied piglets how to protect themselves. The puppies assumed that if there were big bad, mean timber wolves, there had to be little bad, mean timber wolves. The puppies and piglets agreed, they had to be ready.

They first made an opening in the bushes nearby, just big enough for timber wolf pups to know that it was for them. This was the timber wolf puppy trap.

Unfortunately, piglet training wasn't going well. The baby potbellies were having too much fun with this new contact activity. So much, that they were giving no consideration to the puppies well thought out plan.

No matter what the puppies tried, the little porky babies ended up sprawled out on top of them. The puppies were starting to ache and feel sore from this training effort.

They finally decided to try another tactic. The K-9 Town puppies would lure the wolf pups through the timber wolf puppy trap. The piglets would then sprawl out on top of the little trouble makers.

Of course neither puppy nor piglet gave thought to the fact that the same protective eyes that were watching them during their current antics, would be watching them then, and there would be no way any confrontation would take place.

As usual, the puppies were providing the females with much loved entertainment.

After deciding they had created the best plan ever, the puppies and piglets went back to normal fun and play, never to think about their perfect plan again.

As the female timber wolves continued to observe, also being delightfully held captive by the puppies amusement, the K-9 Town females gathered the puppies and piglets and started to take a walk. They walked, talked and made merry, seemingly not paying attention to the timber wolves right behind them.

If the timber wolves had followed any closer, it would have appeared that dogs and wolves were one group instead of two.

With no warning, the dogs reached a clearing with a body of water unlike anything the wolves had seen before. Smoke rose from the surface of the water, but the fire was yet to be seen.

Instead of backing up, the K-9 Town females continued to go forward. So did the female timber wolves.

What the wolves saw next left them terrified!

Why were the dogs still going forward when they had to see them too?

Mountain Lions!!

There were lots of them relaxing, but not in the water.
As the K-9 Town females approached, the mountain lions actually greeted them fondly.

Afraid, but determined not to show it, the timber wolves continued to follow the dogs.

Bad move!

The mountain lions leaped directly in front of the wolves, bearing their teeth, and blocking their path.

Even Hanna was so afraid that she slicked back her ears and lowered her belly to the ground in complete submission.

As she and the other wolves cowered in fear, they heard one of the K-9 Town females call out.

“Thank you dear friends, we’ve gotten our point across.”

The mountain lions backed away, teeth beared and growling just to show the timber wolves that they were lucky the K-9 Town females had called them off.

When Hanna and the others regained their senses, they walked slowly over to the K-9 Town females who had just saved their lives. Under no circumstances would they consider passing the mountain lions again without the protection of the dogs.

It was the beautiful poodle Sophie Jean who spoke softly, as she could see the timber wolves were still shaken and afraid.

“The mountain lions were once our enemies.” she explained. “We had to show them our strength to gain their respect just as we will show our strength to Shocka Din and the rest of you, though it will take much less effort.”

“But for now,” added Conchita, the perky Chihuahua, “We invite you to join us in the soothing comfort of the hot water.”

“The water here will relax you and put you in mind of a better way to live, instead of the troublesome lives you have chosen,” said Pitbull Margie.

As they entered, the feeling was just as Conchita and Margie promised. Relaxing and delightful were the only words they could think of as they looked around, reading each other’s thoughts.

As if that weren’t enough, when they got out of the pond, the K-9 Town females immediately started making a fuss over them. As the wolves were shown a special way to help each other dry their thick furs in the sun, they were included in the K-9 Town females’ conversations about the upcoming Togetherness Celebration.

The timber wolves had never been treated like this. They loved feeling like they belonged to this group and this wonderful way of life.

What does this mean? Are the female timber wolves having  change of hearts? Will their motherly instincts prevail?

We'll see.

Hope you enjoyed this excerpt from "The Takeover."

Rottie Brady and Pitbull Sammy - Get those mountain lions straight

Babee  Blue

Ma, would you tell me about the time when the mountain lions tried to make trouble for Omar's pack, before I was born. Why did they do that, Ma.
How did Rottie Brady and Pitbull Sammy show them a thing or two?

Okay Babee, since you're being such a good boy. I'll start from the beginning.
The mountain lions were being very bad.

Was a sunny day

Big things on the way

At K-9 Town, USA.

Rottweiler Brady

And Pitbull Sammy

Enjoying the month of May.

They were on their way

Back to the pack

To tell leader Omar Blue

They’d just been accosted

By mountain lions

And what they had to do.

They met up with Omar

Headed their way

He asked, “What you two up to”

Pitbull Sammy was glad to speak,

“We were coming to find you.

We met some mountain lions back there

One even threw a threat

He teed Professor Brady off

Don’t think he’s got up yet.”

Pitbull Sammy

“I’m Professor Brady only to the Pack

Outside I’m Rottweiler Brady

Ain’t like he didn’t know my name

And said teaching was for a lady.

Rottweiler Brady

I taught him quick

How a teacher teaches

mountain lions too

Then we figured in case they’re hunting trouble

We’d better come tell you.

The mountain lions are starting up

Don’t think they like us here

May as well bring it to a head

Make sure they have it clear.

Was the lion Booby

Leading them

A total of only three

Who would have thought

They’d have the nerve

To confront this pit and me.

Then Pitbull Sammy spoke again

A big smile on his face

“I was hoping they all would join in

But the others kept their place.

I agree with Brady

Somethings up

We think they had it planned

But they didn’t guess the consequence

Of calling the professor’s hand.”

Omar looked at both of them

Proud to have them in his pack

“We’ll alert the rest of the Elders

And hope those cats come back.

In the meantime

Get them outta your heads

There’s other things to do

We’re taking a trip

To see my kin

I want them to meet you.

We’re all a little restless

It’s time for the puppies first run

It will do us all

A bit of good

And we’ll have a lot of fun.”

PUPPY TALK

K-9 Town was buzzing

They were visiting Omar’s kin

The females were getting things ready

The puppies were in the den.

The other puppies were silent

While listening to Lee, Lii and Luu

Tell how Professor Brady

Broke the mountain lion in two.

The Chihuahua puppy triplets

Were the puppy leaders too

Said the lions should have come to them

To hear what their professor could do.

They laughed till their

Little tummies ached

And then they laughed some more

Said “Bet we could handle

That mountain lion

If he ever knocks on our door.

Or maybe we’ll get to see him

On the way to leader Omar’s kin

We’ll run away from the shepherds

And beat him up again.

It was then Poodle Sophie Jean came in

Schoolmarm and Brady’s wife

She had to hold her laugher in

It might just save a life.

“What’s this you say

About running away

While the shepherds are watching you

I tell you now if you try it

We’ll be all over you.

Not talking about the professor

Not talking about the shepherds too

Cause me and the female Elders

Are the ones who’ll handle you.

Now quiet down

And take a nap

There’s a long, long trip ahead

When you wake up we’ll be leaving

But remember what I just said.”

The puppies heard

Every word she said

And knew each one was true

The female Elders didn’t play

When they came after you.

They’d wait awhile

Till they got big

That lion would still be there

They’d take the professor with them

Then the females wouldn’t care.

So off they went to dreamland

Nothing else they could do

In a few days they’d be bigger

They’d take Pitbull Sammy too.

Ma's Mother's Day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

I'm Babee sitting this weekend so Ma can celebrate Mother's Day.  I picked him up the usual way. He loves travelling and was glad to see me. We miss each other a lot though he spends lots of time here.

Ma's over at Facebook talking about what a good time she and sister Joy had reading about the adventures we have here at K-9 Town and entertaining senior citizens.

Here she is.....

Hi everyone. I celebrated Mother's Day with my best friend, daughter Joy.

First to Dunlop House Assisted Living Community to read to and entertain senior citizens.

Then a meal fit for any mother.

Couldn't ask for better Mother's Day celebrations.

What about us! Asked the K-9 Town Seers

Hi everyone.

I just got a visit from the K-9 Town Seers, Great Dane Granny and Komondor Rasta Mama. They are the oldest in my pack and we all love them dearly.

In addition to their special gifts of warding off evil spirits (Granny) and seeing into the future (Rasta Mama), they are potion makers, and testers. We can’t change them so we all watch over them. They’re usually very entertaining but sometimes things go wrong because they think it’s their job to protect the pack.

For instance, when they heard that Shocka Din and his vicious timber wolf followers were coming.

Wolf Bennie Ba and my oldest brother Thor who my canine Ma and Pa sent from Iron Dog Land were on watch duty.

Here’s what happened…..

Bennie Ba and Thor were outside their den when the two Seers shot pass them, yelling, “Come on you two. There’s work to be done.”

The younger canines were caught off guard. They had to run at top speed to catch up.

Top speed for Thor and “The Ghost” was faster than any but Omar. Bennie was delighted at his friend’s speed. He could tell Thor was enjoying this as much as he was, while wondering what was in store for them.

But how were the elderly Seers keeping this pace? Where were they going?

The answers were evident when they met up with several of Shocka Din’s vicious timber wolf followers.

The Seers never broke stride. They pounced on their enemies before they knew what hit them.

They were so thorough in their beat down that there was absolutely nothing for Thor and Bennie to do but stand down and watch in utter amazement. They wished the rest of the pack could be there to enjoy this.

When the battling duo had done enough damage, they waved the beaten timber wolves on with a few choice words, and joined the two sideliners.

“We couldn’t tell you our plans beforehand. You would never have believed what we were capable of doing. They deserved every bit of what we gave them!” they said as they laughed out loud.

“Let them tell their leader what the two oldest in Omar Blue’s pack was able to do. Our potions never fail us,” said Rasta Mama.

This may be true but Bennie and Thor noticed on the way back home, the Seers strength and energy were well below normal. The exertion had taken its toll, though they would never admit it.

They made the Seers stop to rest by pretending to be tired themselves. They now fully understood Omar and Major Diggs’ concerns and swore to each other that nothing like this would happen again.

The beaten timber wolves couldn’t believe what had just happened nor the swiftness in which it had occurred.

“They had to be the oldest dogs we’ve ever seen,” said one. Where did they come from? How could they do this to us? We can’t tell the others they agreed, and made a pact.

I had been headed for the Seers’ den when I saw them leaving.

As soon as I saw the Seers running at a speed beyond their natural capabilities, I knew what they had done. They had obviously tricked their watchers into thinking their antics were harmless, which was never the case. I was coming to warn my brother and friend about the trickery they were up against and the consequences that would surely follow, but I was too late.

I ran after them. Not to catch up to them but to be with them if needed. As usual, the Seers were very entertaining. Their speed when approaching the timber wolves was something I had never seen before. The fight was over before it had begun. There was no time or reason to interfere.

Like Bennie and Thor, I was mesmerized. I knew there would be a price to pay but I could only wait to see what it would be.

It wasn’t long before the penalty became apparent.

I noticed their pace steadily slowing. It was obvious that Bennie and Thor had noticed it too. They rightfully must have come up with a reason to stop and rest after detecting the problem.

I ran to the group at top speed. They say, I'm pretty fast.

Putting their surprise aside, I could tell, Bennie and Thor were glad to see me. Neither said a word as I went directly to the elders.

“How are you?” I asked while determining for now that their main problem was exhaustion. They would be taken directly to the females for appropriate care, just in case.

“We’re fine leader Omar,” they said at the same time, heads held low, giving their most remorseful stares, which I am quite familiar with.

“We’re sorry to worry you and we’re sorry we didn’t tell Bennie and Thor what we were going to do. We won’t do that again, we promise.”

Then, hoping to avoid scolding, as though suddenly refreshed, they were taking the lead, headed back to K-9 Town, leaving me, Bennie and Thor to follow.

I told the others, “No, they won’t try the same thing again, but you can be sure that as long as Shocka Din and the others are here, those two will need even closer watching then before, so stay on your guard.

The two gave me a look, showing their concern about what had just happened.

“They’re okay,” I told them. They can’t ignore their gifts. It’s what they are. We give our love and support and will always be there for them. That’s all we can do.

Bet you wouldn’t have missed what just happened for all the fish in the lake, I know I wouldn’t.”

The two perked up, realizing my way of handling the Seers was the only way to assure their happiness. Thor was thinking how he couldn’t wait to tell this and everything else he encounters, to our family at Iron Dog Land.

For the rest of the walk, though keeping all eyes on Rasta Mama and Great Dane Granny, we three went over every detail of the one-sided battle, ready to tell all to the others.
