We were waitin' for the puppies to get far enough ahead before we set off after them.
They were yapping tough stuff when they left. We weren't supposed to hear...
There’s talk about bad monsters
And creatures down below
We don’t care, we’re goin' there
Won't let the Elders know.
When they got to the Demons' Tunnel they scampered in without hesitation. But after a short distance, they slowed. Far-be-it for courageous K-9 Town pups to admit fear, until clattering sounds rang from above and the walls began closing in.
Quivering bodies and low yelps seized fearlessness as darkness devoured light. The tormented puppies turned to leave the horrifying hideaway... but... the opening had vanished.
The pups gathered close. Changing direction, they ran as fast as their little legs let them. Fears escalating, the squealing pups stumbled through darkness. Deeper into the unknown...
"Don't look at them," Crocker Joe woofed out loud, as they came upon hideous ghosts, goblins, and other deformed creatures.

Meanwhile, me and some others set out to see how the pups were enjoying their night out without us. We're on friendly terms with the underground dwellers. No harm would come to our raw intruders.
The teeny pawprints made trailing easy.
"Looks like they picked up speed here," Bloodhound Lufa ruffed when we came upon a body of ghosts.
"Right you are, shrieked the closest apparition. "We followed them aways, then let 'em be."
Despite the puppies surely having second thoughts about their night out, the snickering among us was unanimous as we moved on.
A huge devil's helper's account was close to the others.
"They were here. Right where you are, stood like they were planted there, then took off so fast I couldn't catch 'em if I tried... so I didn't."
Those tots were having a fine, harrowing Halloween. They were approaching the end of their adventure so we vacated the scene and found a secluded spot to wait for them.
Meanwhile, during the scarious time of their short-lived lives, exhaustion had sat in.
They were about to surrender when there was an ear-splitting thunderous noise. A bright beam of light formed a path, leading to the end of the tunnel. They ran faster than ever towards it, then out. Nothing followed them.
Later, nestled in their cozy safe den, laid back, giving thought, we heard...
Maybe we shouldn’t have run from them
We should have stayed and fought.
Too bad we didn’t think of that
They decided with heavy eyes
Next time we look for Halloween
We’ll catch 'em by surprise."
We watched as they snuggled close to each other, tossing away their fright. Soon the excited yapping became soft sounds of contentment.
Happy Halloween
